About

A calm corner of the internet about staying private online.

I'm a regular person who went down the privacy rabbit hole a few years ago and didn't find a good place that explained things simply. Most guides either assumed you were a security researcher or tried to scare you into action. Neither felt right.

So I started keeping notes. Unlogged is those notes, made public.

Most privacy content is either too technical or too paranoid. I wanted something in between — a guide written for people who care about their privacy but don't want it to become a second job.

Unlogged is that guide. It's opinionated, it's selective, and it's honest about tradeoffs. No tool is perfect, and I'll tell you when something isn't.

Every tool on this site is something I've personally evaluated. My criteria:

Open source or audited I prefer tools whose code can be inspected, or that have published independent security audits.
Clear business model If I can't figure out how a company makes money, I'm skeptical. Free isn't free if you're the product.
Actually usable Privacy tools that nobody uses don't protect anyone. Ease of use matters.
No affiliate pressure I don't take affiliate commissions. My picks aren't influenced by who pays more.

Found an error? Have a tool you think belongs here? Just want to say hello? I'd love to hear from you.
